Tampa, FL – Umi Shave Club Founder Matt Green lost his sister Julia to cancer in 2010. Diagnosed with breast cancer in her mid-thirties, her courageous battle was an inspiration to all who knew her. For Green, keeping the memory of Julia alive is part of his mission with Umi Shave Club. As part of giving support to women fighting cancer right now, Umi Shave Club donates 10% of all proceeds to women’s cancer charities and other worthy causes that were close to Julia’s heart.
“As a brand, we promise to do good things always,” says Green. “As a reminder of that goal, I’ve placed a butterfly in the logo. That’s my sister watching over us and guiding Umi in the right direction. And, with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we believe now is an especially important time of year to reflect on the struggles faced and small victories celebrated every day by those with cancer.”
Shortly after her diagnosis in 2002, Julia chose to embrace the fight against the disease. Her positive energy and perseverance were uplifting to friends and family. Later, she was featured in “Turning Heads: Portraits of Grace, Inspiration, and Possibilities” by Jackson Hunsicker, a provocative collection of intimate portraits of women who had lost hair as part of their cancer treatment. That attention led to TV appearances — first on a local morning show, then “Good Morning America,” where she met fellow cancer warrior Robin Roberts.
Always committed to helping others, Julia leveraged her energy toward raising money for cancer charities. She participated in Rock-n-Roll Half Marathons in San Antonio and Montreal as part of the Strides for Hope program, among other events. Green sees Umi Shave Club partly as a continuation of his sister’s good work.
In addition to raising funds for noble causes, Umi Shave Club is equally dedicated to providing women with exceptional products at reasonable prices. The entire family of products work in tandem to create a safe, superior shaving experience. Umi Shave Club products are also all-natural and up to 88 percent certified organic. No harsh chemicals means no irritation, so even those with sensitive skin can enjoy a close shave.
“The market for online, subscription women’s shave clubs is weak,” remarks Green, “the few clubs that exist are pricey and hard to understand. Umi Shave Club is changing all that; we’ve introduced transparent, simple pricing coupled with great products that easily rival name brand competitors. Our goal is to become a category leader, and we’re quickly building a foundation of satisfied members and respected products.”
Green believes firmly in the quality of Umi Shave Club’s products and the importance of giving back. Subscribers can likewise take comfort in knowing that a portion of their payment goes toward cancer research, treatment and other worthy causes. Finally, all Umi Shave Club products come with a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee; the company.
